Many dog owners have areas of their home they’d like to keep their pets out of. Could be the kitchen where the trashcan poses an issue, or maybe the living room because the dog loves the new sofa, or the bedroom where the owner just can’t tolerate dog hair! Whatever the case, we’ve found a solution that works!

Just the other day, my dental hygenist was commenting on her frustration with her two Labrador Retriever’s unwanted behavior of entering her bedroom. The Labs have the run of the house, but are not allowed in the bedroom because of their shedding. If she closes the door at night, the dogs scratch on the door to wake her about 5:00 am every day. If the door remains open, they are quiet until she awakes – but, they enter the bedroom and thus shed all over the place. She has tried door gates, but these two Labs find those to be “no challenge”, especially when left for the day when she goes to work.
I suggested she try the PetBehave Sonic Door Stop. The principle of this product is an invisible doorway barrier produced by two small transmitters placed inside the door jamb. The dog wears a Sonic Collar that picks up a signal from the transmitters, making it beep if the dog gets too close, and emit a mild stimulating correction if it the dog tries to enter the doorway.
With proper training, this product can be as effective as popular outdoor invisible fencing to keep a dog from entering certain areas inside the home, without the use of annoying “baby gates” that just get in everyone’s way!
