More and more companies traditionally know for human products are going to the dogs, and cats, and reptiles. Big name companies including like Paul Mitchell, Omaha Steaks, Origins, Harley Davidson and Old Navy are now offering lines of pet products ranging from dog shampoo, pet attire, and name-brand toys to gourmet treats and food.

WOW! Now my three little dogs can have their very own gourmet treats from Omaha Steaks? I read about these new treats in a report on 2010 Pet Statistics & Trends and just couldn’t believe it! So, I ordered a package of the “Steak Pet Treats” and guess what? The dogs chose them over every other kind of treat offered, so I guess you can say they were a hit with Munchkin, Sugar Baby and Little Guy!

Look for more custom pet foods and treats in the future, according to what was presented at the Global Pet Expo last March. Some of the new items debuting at the Expo are now available in stores and online. Products for pets are exhibiting the same trends for pet health, wellness and pure fun that are cropping up for our own lifestyles. You can even create your own pet food at RedMoon Custom Petfood and get free shipping!

I visited the RedMoon website and took a spin on their custom pet food generator. I found it to give comprehensive information on ingredients, allowing me to choose a base formula that could be custom suited to an average healthy dog, as well as one that may have specific health concerns requiring a special diet. I was also allowed to select my dog’s energy level to be considered in formulating a custom dog food.

The next step was to choose a bag size which included a “trial” size option, and kibble size! I was then presented with the option to add (2) free supplements to the mix, such as antioxidant immune booster, oral health support, joint reviver, etc. I chose the antioxidant immune booster and digest-aid for the testing. They use a nutritionally balanced base and add, in appropriate proportion, specific mixes that fit your dog’s requirements according to the information you supply, by breed, age, gender, size, and energy need. There are also specific supplements targeting immune system, hip and joint, and skin and coat needs.

The trial bag of food I created came to $9.89 for a 2.5 lb. bag. RedMoon’s production facilities are in Alberta and Minnesota, the latter is USDA organic certified. They use regionally sourced antibiotic and hormone-free meats, whole raw fruits and vegetables, and slow cook them in small batches to preserves nutrients otherwise lost in high heat commercial cooking methods. RedMoon products are gluten, grain, soy, wheat, rice and corn-free so allergic reactions are not a concern.

This is custom nutrition delivered, with supplements in doses high enough to get results. You can name your own blend after your dog (or cat) and RedMoon will personalize the bag. Soon, you’ll be able to have your pet’s picture on the bag too! This system gives you the flexibility to change your dog’s formula as health conditions change. Food is delivered in three to five days, and there is a 110% money back satisfaction guarantee.
